"Slow Food, Fast Cars" Italy by aaaarrgh

Just before I reached the upper age limit, I took an Interrail holiday around Western Europe. A third of it was spent in Italy - Milan, Verona (2 days), Venice, Bologna, overnight to Naples (another 2 days) ...and then to Brindisi for the 24 hour ferry ride to Greece.

Italy is home of the "Slow Food/Slow Cities" movement, which is strange for a country with so many little, noisy, fast cars and mopeds!!

The Citta Slow movement aims to restore quality to modern life - good food and wine, local traditions, old breeds of animal and types of crop. It was founded by a journalist in Rome and now has headquarters in many modern countries, including the US and UK. Ludlow was the UK's first Slow Town in 2004.
