Louisiana Museum of Modern Art

Vast labyrinth of art galleries in woodlands on the coast of the ?resund.

I have read comments by well known architects who describe it as the best art gallery in the world. It also has great art as well as architecture. Considerably extended in 1991, this museum takes you along a journey around its site, above ground and beneath the hillside.

You experience a variety of spaces, experiences and views. There is a traquil viewing gallery looking out over the Sound. Other windows frame the surrounding woodland and lake like they were paintings themselves.

The art itself is superb, with permanent collections of Danish artists, and international figures like Giacometti.

There are also plenty of things for children to do, a nice childrens' gallery and play area overlooking the lake.

All in all I spent three hours looking around and that wasn't enough!

If you are travelling by train from Copenhagen, remember to buy a ticket at the station that includes admission to Louisiana. At 139DK it will save you some money overall.
