Memory Place: Quiet, inexpensive B&B with character
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • Memory Place was a very pleasant surprise in the heart of the trendy Vesterbro area. Especially after I had spent four days cooped up in a tiny room in Cab-Inn!

Several local Bars and a bakery nearby. However, there was free tea and coffee provided at Memory Place, as well as a fridge full of (not-so-free) beer and wine.

The one small minus was the shared bathroom, which on this occasion I was lucky to have to myself for most of my stay. But it could do with a thicker curtain - you will know what I mean if you've ever watched "Rear Window"!!

Unique Qualities: The rooms are very unique, lots of personal touches, it felt like I was staying in somebody's home rather than a guest house.

The landlord is a trained chef and offers to cook a traditional Danish supper if you wish. For an additional 50DK the breakfast was very generous.

Hotel Cabinn Express: Cab-Inn ~ the clue is in the name
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • Cab-Inn now have several hotels in Copenhagen. We stayed at 'Cab-Inn City', 100m south of Tivoli and Railway Station.

Being a student of architecture I was curious about Cab-Inn. As the name suggests, the rooms are like cabins, with fold down beds and tables, each room with its own compact shower 'room'. Our room fitted three people in. It was OK for space because the only time all three of us were there at the same time, we were in 'bed', asleep. The shower module was a bit small and difficult, it got very wet and steamy.

Breakfast was excellent - plenty of rolls, cheese, cold meat, juice, yoghurt, cereals etc.

Unique Qualities: Because of its clever creation of compact rooms, Cab-Inn is good value in comparison with other Copenhagen Hotels - "The Best Rates in Town", they say. And I am not going to argue.

It was very clean and modern, with a large reception area with bar downstairs, with tables, chairs, TV lounge and views out onto the street.

The reception staff were fairly pleasant and all spoke excellent English. There was no curfew - I think the reception was open 24/7.

There was a friendly bar around the corner from the hotel too. The area is a bit quiet, opposite the Post Office HQ and surrounded by offices which were dead at night.

Thank you. I'll definitely remember to watch my head when taking a boat tour.

At some points I felt like you were describing my stay in CPH (going with students, going to Malmo and Luisiana, the boat trip, staying in Cab Inn....) LOL at almost losing your head under the bridge - that also almost happened to me!
