Less than a week before I visited Bordeaux, it was listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Not at all surprising really, its classical cream-coloured stone buildings go on forever. And Bordeaux acts as the deputy capital city of France whenever there is a sniff of trouble in Paris. It was also part of England until 1453, though it is now firmly French in every sense, particularly because the local area produces vast amounts of good wine! My stay was a great experience, the Bordelaise were very welcoming and friendly. If it wasn't for Bordeaux's imperialist, anti-revolutionary, conservative political history it would be my new favorite French city ;o) www.bordeaux-city.com/ |

diocletianvs Sun Mar 9, 2008 15:48 UTC Great page Sean. That fountain and those stylish trams without overhead wires would be enough reason to visit the place. (Oh, and Lord Rogers too ;) | poons Thu Jan 31, 2008 18:52 UTC Looking closer! A great Bordeaux page Sean! My visits tended to gravitate towards Bergerac and surrounds (closer to friends etc.) Few days to use up by early spring, now an inkling for this city to really feel it :o) | mustertal Sat Aug 25, 2007 01:17 UTC Nicw pages Sean, I hope to stay here after the Rugby World Cup. | Bwana_Brown Fri Jul 27, 2007 21:42 UTC Surely you must know how badly I want to visit France, so how could you torture me with this superb page!? Even so, I had to chuckle at your Intro before experiencing the great To Do and Restaurant tips! Loved the 'Miroir des Quais' idea! |
