This area has been a regular destination of mine for over ten years. I've been lucky enough to see everyday life in Bavaria at close hand.
Würzburg is now beautifully rebuilt after the RAF did their best to burn it to the ground. The Residenz is worth a visit, so is the hilltop Marienburg.
Nuremburg is the place to visit Hitler's stomping ground - but not a comfortable feeling!
Bamberg is great on a hot summer's day - there is nothing nicer than a large glass of Bamberg's 'smoked beer'.
One day I hope to get as far as Munich - a long way - Bavaria is very big!
- Pros:Rolling hills, picturesque villages and towns
- Cons:A stronghold of the German conservatives

Sean you have to get to Oeber Bayern, Munich and especially Garmisch-Partenkirchen and the mountains. It is a different part of Bayern altogether from Wuerzberg & up near Hessen. Check my GAP & Munich pages out for a feel. Tschuess. Bill
