Filled with everything quintessentially 'English' - Oxford's spires, River Thames, Blenheim Palace, the rolling hills of the Cotswolds, the Ridgeway path and the White Horse, picturesque market towns with timber framed houses, villages wrapped around ancient greens, pubs, real ale, Morris Dancers...
Also home of industrial history and commerce - MG and Morris car production, Great Western Railway, Didcot Power Station...
My pages are more about Oxfordshire than the city of Oxford. Oxford, of course, is famous for its University, Cathedral, museums, gardens and medieval history. There are plenty of VT pages on Oxford at:
http://www.virtualtourist.com/vt/4b08a/
- Pros:Beautiful English towns and villages, 4000 years of history, Oxford
- Cons:It sometimes feels like only rich London commuters can afford to live in the nice bits!!
- In a nutshell:Oxford is great but there is far more to the county.

Didn't know that just around the corner of Oxford there are towns that old! I will have to go there soon.
Thanks for the info about the yellow fields. We just arrived back in Oxford after a few weeks at our "other home" in Colorado. So exciting to the intensity of Spring here.
this is quite an excellent page. Very informative and interesting. Very helpful for me in figuring out where NOT to live (didcot). What do you think of Cowley or Summertown?
Thanks for the tips and great photos. Can almost taste the tea and scones...
An excellent page on this wonderfully scenic part of England! Fantastic tips with tons of detail and great pics to boot! Nice to see a well-written power station tip too.
Great tips for a great county, & very useful too! : )
A town that has an excellent bicycle shop can't be all that bad.
You certainly know your Oxfordshire, but I guess growing up there does help! I've rowed through here but didn't win a pot when I raced at Abingdon like your previous rater :-(
Ha ha ha, loved this page - and that you sneaked Blenheim on after Abingdon. That'll sort out the snobs in Woodstock! Got my first Senior II cup at Abingdon. Wicked current. Cheers, Ian
Enjoyed the virtual stroll through Dr. WHO territory. Any chance the time travelling phone box might be found in the local pub?
