"Castles, Forests, Cliffs and Sea" Dumfries and Galloway by aaaarrgh
Dumfries and Galloway Travel Guide: 362 reviews and 732 photos
Missed by many people as they go straight to Glasgow, Edinburgh and the proper Scottish Highlands, Dumfries and Galloway is quite charming.
This area may be described as the Scottish Lowlands but the lumpy bits are still quite high by English and Welsh standards. Like the Brecon Beacons on steroids.
Galloway includes the most southern point in Scotland. It has historic towns like Dumfries and busy ports such as Stranraer.
I was impressed by the wonderful array of wildlife. You can still find red squirrels living in the forests around Newton Stewart. The Mull of Galloway is quite tremendous for its seabirds and wild coast.
- In a nutshell:Another special corner of Scotland to be explored

Such a beautiful area.
I nearly got married at Gretna when I was 16.... heheh
Hi, Revisiting your pages from the Fens. As you suggest ,this place kind of gets forgotten. Good intro to the area.
Been a while since I was down that way, may have to take some trips when the sun makes an appearance! If you want to be Scottish though it should be Rabbie not Robbie! ;)
so there's more than dumfries only :-( I shall kick my friends for it!
Why Sean, it warms the very cockles of my heart that you have graced my home town with your camera and car:-) Great little page... there must be a bit more where that came from!
