Ko Kret located in Pak Kret district, Nonthaburi province, northwest of Bangkok. Ko Kret is a small islet beside the Chao Phraya River. You can ride a boat from Bangkok or just across The Chao Phraya River from Pak Kret district. Ko Kret actually it is mostly the communities of Thailand’s Mon people, immigrated from their homeland in Burma (Myanmar), have been living there for few centuries now, still preserving their lifestyle as good as before. When you get in Ko Kret, you can make a leisurely walk along the elevated walkway which rings the islet, wander through the villages to see lifestyle of locals, many locals set there home as a shop present their culture, local product, little nice restaurants with local Mon food, food stall, souvenir shops.... etc There're many ceramic houses, Mon-style pottery, handicraft houses, and a village in one canal where they demonstrate how to make thai sweet desert etc I think this is a great place to get away for a day from busy Bangkok, spend a day exploring by foot or even ride a bike around. Another major attraction of Ko Kret is its ancient temples of the Ayutthaya period, I found they are very beautiful and in a quiet atmosphere. For more information please visit my Pak kret page at link below, many more detail and photos from my visits.

Off The Beaten Path: Dusit Zoo in the heart of Bkk, a relaxing place!!

A popular place for the weekend in the heart of the city, Dusit Zoo or the other original name Khao Din Wana, tell taxi driver shortly go to Khao Din!!. Here you will see thai families spending time together. Its not only zoo, not only animals but here more like fun park for kids, relaxing park, wide area with many recreation activities provided. Some nice gardens, I saw many people picnic, sit on a mat under the shade and big part of the area is pond as you can see on my photo, many people enjoy paddling a boat and enjoy Chak Ka Yan Nam :), well I don't know the proper word for that in english, the meaning is water bicycle, ride in the wide pond in the area of the zoo. You can see Ananthasamakom Throne Hall from the zoo area. They have small trains ride for sightseeing around the area. Yes you must pay a little for the entrance fee. (more photos at travelogue page)

Many events at Impact Muang Thong Thani, exhibition & convention centerIt's the place I go often for exhibitions, trade fair, concert, or even to see Thailand Open tennis tournament. Many events take place here all year round so I keep checking the event calendar of this place. The Impact Arena and exhibitions area are in wide area, many halls. So take a look for detail in website below before you go. Althoung Muang Thong is locate in suburb of Bangkok but you can reach there easily in half hour from central Bangkok by expressway system, so convenient. see how to get there in the website. Muang Thong Thani is not only exhibition area but also a huge community living area. As you can see on my photo, there are many tall buildings of flat, condominiums. So in the area even there’s no event take place still so many people there. Nearby the exhibition hall you can find a huge food centre front of the living buildings.
