Spend a whole day exploring Epheses. Be sure to bring plenty of water as it can be hot !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Lonaian Greeks founded Ephesus in the 11th century BC. Ephesus was originally located on the sea and was a major port. As the port silted up in the 6th century it was moved to what is now Selcuk. Today Ephesus is 5 km from the sea. The Romans turned the city into a Christian City after a long conflict. In 15th century Ephesus was was included in the Ottoman Empire. |
| | Ephesus was rediscovered in the late 19th century and archaeology digs have been going on for over a century. |
