Rocamadour a pilgrimage even now Rocamadour is one of the seven great pilgrimage sites in the 10th and 12th century. The church is located half way up the cliffs with a castle/fort on the top and the town on the bottom. The population of the town is 780 people. A train runs through the town and the night train is very popular as the lights of castle/fort and the town are light up in the evening.
The town is named after St. Amadour and is situated above the river Alzou-the site of many miracles. The ramparts of the fort has protected the religious site below through many incursions. |
