Favorite thing: cruise the klongs and the Chao Phrya River in Bangkok. Water taxis are the best way of getting around the city when you can use them, anyway. The long-tail boats are a real gas.

Fondest memory: The fruit, especially rose apples and Thai pineapple. And even more, I miss the whimsy of Thai architecture.

Fondest memory: The flowers. Like Hawaii, Thailand is rather like a gigantic greenhouse in which you'll find an amazing array of flowers, some familiar, some not. Orchids cost a pittance. And some, like the one pictured below, are total mysteries. Given the way this one grows, I suspect it might be related to the frangipani, but that's just a guess. If there's a botanist out there who knows, please tell me what this is!
