On our tour Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River have become a wonderful memory. Gananoque is a gateway to the famous 1000 islands and and harbours. The Gananoque Boat Lines takes you around. Gananoque is the nearest town, 16 km ( 10 miles ) west, from the Thousand Islands International Bridge. Gananoque is a native, Indian name meaning "A Place of Health." The St. Lawrence River is connecting the great lakes with the Atlantic Ocean. It's like a small sea. If you are on the boat you might think it's an endless trip!
