Helgoland is approximately 70 km far away from the coast of the German bay and belongs with its approx. 1,650
inhabitants to the circle Pinneberg in the land of the Federal Republic Schleswig-Holstein. In the year 1720 the natural connection between main-island and dune was destroyed by a storm tide, so that the isle today from the red stone with a cliffline which rises up 61 m highly out of the sea, and a small, pre-aged neighbour island, where a bath dune exists. The main-island has a size of approx.. 1,0 km2, the neighbouring bath dune a size of 0,7 km2.
