There is a scam that is going on that we got caught with concerning the Metro and we knew about it before we even got to Paris!. Official looking people, with matching jackets and patches, will offer to help you purchase your tickets and give you travle help. Be wary since some of these will only be looking to sell you a cheaper ticket for the correct fair higher price fair. It is difficult to detect since the METRO tickets all look the same. EVEYTHING they do to help you is correct and helpful until you realise you have been swindled. One tip off might be that they are looking around and will seem to want to hurry you along. Don't be rushed and don't believe that the ticket machine is broken. They will work in teams to make it all look true. Lucky for us we did get caught in this scam but did not lose any money.

Be aware that the toilets are not all the same in Paris. Some are just holes in the floor where you are just to sqwat and go. If you want a real toilet then you will likely pay for it ...Around .40 euro. Well worth it if you are not adept at missing the shoes or pants around the ankles It would be nice to at least purchase a coco or coffee if you need the break since it really irritates the Restaurant help that you have popped in for a poo! When I saw this toilet looking up at me I didn't quite believe that I was supposed to use it for MY intentions so I moved on and found another that I paid to use.

Be aware that some places will take total advantage of you in some ways if they can. My advise is to be very specific and patient and nice. Here shows an example of what happens when you order a juice combo withOUT alcohol. It came back all fancy and nice and we thought "how nice" until the bill stated 8 euros each. Had I looked at the bill before drinking it I would have sent it back. It was an "American Special" that took 2 sips to finish and when questioned they say you ordered a cocktail. I should have known when we saw a few locals chuckling at us. Without being able to argue in French we chalked it up and vowed never to let it happen again! And we didn't... and they tried!
