Paris in October is great but don't count on the weather to make or break your vacation. We are not very picky so the misty and rainy weather was actually nice.
Being American we expected all the typical things like some rude behavior and anti-USA attitude but for the most part were quite happy with our trip.
Walking along the Seine at night is quite romantic if you are into that and sight seeing at night is well worth the efforts spent.

Even if you are in moderate shape getting around Paris is a breeze. We walked all around and barley felt winded. The best time in my opinion is at night when the sights are all lit up and beautiful to see. A walk from Notre Dame to the Eiffle Tower to the Louvre is all possible in just a few hours. We had no worries about bad areas and felt very safe.

Paris prides itself on surprise and innovation so just by walking around you never know what you will find. We found this futuristic car along the shopping district. Very interesting to look at but I doubt we will see them on the streets next year.
