We had a wonderful walk around the lake (Toolonlahti) 10 minutes from the city center and just accross the National Museum. The lake was half frozen with plenty of ducks enjoying the sunrise and the skating :-)
The night falls very early but nevertheless, it doesn't take away the charm of the city. The lights underline the beauty of the buildings and you can really appreciate the architecture. The whole city is actually a mix between the old and modern style which make it even more attractive.
You might wonder why there is a Swedish Theatre in the middle of Helsinki???? Well the Finns have to learn Swedish at school; it's the second official language! The street names are in Finnish and in Swedish which can confuse the hell out of you :-) But to go back to the original question, as it's an important language for them, the Finns decided to spread that 'other' culture through art such as theatre plays.
