This is the picture that was mailed to me (along with a speeding ticket!) while I was driving to work one day... There were also cameras that took a photo of your car if you ran a stop light, too, but I didn't get any of those. Actually, I thought this was a very neat idea and means of traffic control that has only recently been used in a limited way in Charlotte. None here as yet, but I wouldn't mind if it came here. Anything to reduce careless and stupid injuries and deaths because of those who drive crazily! I just happened to think of this... this is the only ticket I have ever gotten! Lucky Me! | | Heidelberg Will Not Disappoint You! I Remember...
I remember my days and nights in Heidelberg still. Army Green. Feelings of loneliness and missing those special in my life. New & Great Friends with many things in common (mostly all here and away from home!). Long, warm summer days when the sun rose at 4 am and set at 10pm. In the reverse, short winter days when it became light just before 9am and was completely dark again by 4:30pm. Bike rides along fields of hops and sugar beets. Walks in the many forest trails so typically German and to be envied by all others. Nights on the Haupt Strasse. Wine Festivals in every town. Cobblestone Streets. Bus rides. Train rides. My old beat up VW that I bought for $300. English & Scottish girls. Anita Street. Sheperd's Bar. Jeigermeister(sp?). My friend Austin turning green. Peeing in a trough. People peeing along the side of the road. Lots of peeing! Walking way out of your way so as NOT to have salute an officer. The Golden Rose Restaurant in Keirsheim and Cordon Blue mit pompe frits unt salad. Alt Bier. Hashish. Playing guitar & writing songs with Bill Sheeley. A trip to Hamburg and a home-cooked meal. Red cabbage. Red Light District. Jethro Tull, YES & Uriah Heep concerts. Dancing in a club downtown. Getting busted while trying to date two different girls (never again!). Queing to see "Live and Let Die". Anita Street and the one I left behind. Liverpool girls. Yorkshire girls. Warm beer with a head and a kick! Fast pitch softball. Painful knee injury. German brother landlords. One snow. Best Friends ever! Army Lifers making life miserable. Castle Illumination. Gerda. Working 18 hour days. Nothing to do. Memorable music. Stones Traffic Free Beatles. Punch cards. Deadlines. Working with Mrs. Gutruff. Short-Time Calendar. Processing out on crutches. Saying Good-bye. Ready to resume life as a rock star (yeah, right!) Trip to the airport. Going home. General Pink on the flight home. Gone from Heidelberg & Germany. Heidelberg & Germany never gone from me.

Maria250 Mon Dec 31, 2007 21:19 UTC It's so late but happiest birthday! Been such a while, and I hope you are doing good? I like your dedication to Kam and Jess. It's full of love. Thank you for sharing. Maria | 807Wheaton Thu Apr 6, 2006 03:03 UTC We enjoyed Heidelberg when we visited in 1989. Our brother-in-law was also stationed there in 1970. They had a great time too!
