Hospitable Turkey

by Niekie - last update: Jun 9, 2005

Our trip

Anatolian women making bread
In october last year, my mother and I took a twelve day trip through Turkey using public transport.

We started in Istanbul, went on to Ankara and to Cappadocia, where we stayed a few days. After that we continued to Konya, Pamukkale and Selcuk. From there we took a flight to Istanbul where we spent our last days before we returned home.

We were amazed with Turkey's natural and cultural treasures, but we were even more struck by its people. Some of the people we have met were poor (materially speaking), yet what little they had they would give away to strangers without hesitation. Never before have I seen people more generous and hospitable.

Thank you for your nice words about my beloved land. We, Turks ,are just the servants and keepers of all heritages of Anatolian civilization and nature for the future generations.
