The Capital of the United States of America

Capitol Building
"DC" as its know by the locals stands for District of Columbia, which is not a US state but a Administrative District created specifically to avoid having the Capital City in any one state.
DC is a gorgeous city of many parks, white tree lined streets, and many marble buildings and memorials.
Surprisingly for a US city, DC does not have any skyscrapers, which gives it a bit of a European feel.

Washington DC is the centre for visiting Diplomats, and its not surprising to learn that its got one of the largest concentration of Hotel and Motel rooms in the coutry.
This is very noticable as you drive around the outskirts of the city, and even inside the city, you will find hotels all over.
Looking down the Mall
I did find DC very easy to get around, and did most of the siteseeing by foot. The streets are easy to get around as the numbers run North and South, and the East and West streets are lettered. (Please note that there are no J, X, Y

Then streets running diagonally are named after US cities. So get a map from your local hotel and hit the streets. I am normally very very bad at directions, but I never got lost in DC as its very easy to get around. and Z streets).
The White House.
Washington DC will offer the visitor loads, from all the very famous landmarks to see, to many museums, and when the shopaholic in you wants to get there are many malls not only in the city but also around the city for e.g. in Virginia there are many malls.

As nightlife goes, there are many restaurants, bars and nighclubs that will have you shaking your thang until the early hours!

Pros:"A very pleasant city, with a lots of things to see."
Cons:"Some people say some bits are dangerous, but I did not encounger anything negative. One personal things though is that it has just a little TOO many memorials"
