I have always loved visiting cold countries, so in December of 2004, I ventured to a new destination for me. The Capital of Finland, Helsinki.
We spent 2 days there and had a wonderful time. Everything was great, from the friendly locals that speak perfect English, to the gorgeous cathedrals, to the very funky and trendy bars and restaurants.
Having visited all the scandinavian countries, Helsinki to me in still the cheapest, and you dont need to break the bank to have a good time here.
Its a very compact city, and during our 2 days there ,we only used public transport to and from the airport, the rest of the time we walked all over because it was possible to do so due to its nice size.
Would I return for another visit?? Most certainly! |

I have such good memories of Helsinki as well! I tried Garlic Beer in Tallinn back in 98. I had about 4 pints( its great stuff), needless to say the female company I was with wasnt enjoying my experience! | easyoar Sun Mar 20, 2005 12:01 UTC
