"Vienna - my Current Home Town!" a Vienna Travel Page by claudia1975

I am only living here for half a year so far and these are my first impressions:

very dense city / high rent prices / large mix of Austrians, eastern Europeans and Russians / UN City / university city / many excellent bars and restaurants / good markets, with a lot of fresh stuff / health care much worse than e.g. in Germany, Switzerland, Luxemburg, Netherlands and Scandinavia / good public transportation / subways very dirty, old trains / beautiful old buildings / wonderful museums for art lovers / many nice open air swimming pools / hardly any readable Austrian newspaper with some cultural-intellectual spice to it / people are either extremely friendly or very rude and unfriendly / cuisine is mainly meat and potatoes or fries - good vegetable or vegetarian dishes are hard to find / magnificent pedestrian zone area / tourists everywhere downtown / Mozart-chocolate tastes awful / the forests in the Northwest of Vienna are magnificent / great city for wine tasting
