Hersbruck is a city I come to quite often, now that I am with Alex, as it is very easy to reach. From Nürnberg it is just 20 minutes by train. My Mum is still living there and I enjoy visiting her there with the baby a lot. Hersbruck is a small town, with about 13,000 inhabitants. Other than Lauf an der Pegnitz. |
| Hersbruck some 50 years ago |
| | The City Where I Grew Up The city is located about 30 km east of Nürnberg. It's a little village on the river Pegnitz. Hersbruck was founded around 800 or 900 a. Ch. and from the beginning divided in two settlements: one on the south-, the other one on the northside of the river. Because of its setting on an important river crossing of a trading road between the rivers Main and Danube, a quite unfamous duke built a bridge about 1000. To save it and to earn some money through toll for the bridge, he built a castle, which now is the county court. His name was Haderich, so the place was called "Haderihesprucga" (= Haderich's Bridge, now Hersbruck). |

Nemorino Wed Nov 10, 2004 14:26 UTC This is VT’s first and only Hersbruck page, so you have put it on the map, so to speak. I’ve been through there on the train a couple of times, but without stopping, so I didn’t really see very much. | dsantosh Sat Oct 23, 2004 10:46 UTC Welcome to VT. Greetings from India.Great start. |
