"Glen Ellyn" Glen Ellyn by AnnaLupilla

Glen Ellyn Travel Guide: 2 reviews and 13 photos

I spent huge parts of my early childhood there in Duane Street with my Dad's parents. Later they moved to the condo and I used to sit on the balcony with my Daddy's aunt, Eleanor. She with the sunglasses that covered her face almost completely. She was blind, almost unable to walk and had a pacemaker which was easy to be seen, as she was so skinny. When staying at my Grandparents' I used to stay in a room with her, and till I fell asleep I watched the pictures on the wall and the bottles of Holy Water someone brought her from Lourdes.
Anyway, sitting on the balcony with her was incredible, as she always ... and I mean ALWAYS ... and everyday at 5 p.m. she drank a glass of gin. Five minutes later my Grandma - her sister-in-law - came out, in sorrow ... as the hospital had called ... again ... to ask if Eleanor was alright. They say she did that ever since way back her living in Santa Barbara, California.
