Big City In a Small Area

by Cham - last update: Sep 20, 2006

a tale of more than 2 cities

City of London Dragon
The city of london is a widely misused term to describe what people see on tv and in tourist guides. The City of London is actually only 1 sq mile in area, and as you can see from the map does not cover many of the landmarks that people come to london to see.

London as a city is split into a few different area's some with the title of city. "The city of london" being one of them. in the centre To the north you have the City of Camden, Islington and hackney, the west the City of Westminster, Kensington and Chelsea, the south southwark (pronounced suthark) and lambeth, and grenwich and the tower hamlets to the east.
South Bank at Night, London

How much can you do here?

A lot of people say they've been to london and enjoyed their trip here... however london is like a whole country in itself... you can't just do it in a weekend, you can't even do everything in a week. I've known people that have been here for 6 months and they still haven't seen every part of london. Realistically I think to do london properly as a tourist you'll need at least 2 weeks even then you're just about scratching the surface. There are so many events that go on through the year but the summer time is always the best time as people are less depressed... although the heat on the public transport is enough to cook a wilderbeast!
