"Rouen little known but big on culture" Rouen by Cham

I have to be honest I'm not really one for travelling to Europe that much. After being in Prague earlier in the year and with a friend i met in Lebanon living in France I thought why not?

So she lives in this place called Rouen, I have to admit i'm not big on French geography which i am ashamed to say as it's so near to England. My friend tells me it's an hour by train North of Paris... how hard can that be?

So i take the Eurostar, arrive in garde d'nord in Paris 2 hours 45 minutes later, then i call my friend to ask where i need to get the train... now i was assuming that this place, Rouen, was as far as I am to london (as it takes about the same time to get into the city from where i am) so i was shocked when she told me she has no idea because she never goes to paris and she will have to try and find out for me.

In the end i figure i could get by with using the map... little did i know that France had more companies in one station (each requiring a seperate ticket) than the whole of Manhattan... ok so that's a slight over exaggeration, but there are a few so it makes things complicated.

I get on the train head to St Lazare station where i can catch my train to Rouen. After being on the train for over an hour and a half i realise that an hour from Paris on a french train is about 3000 miles away... it makes you realise just how bad the train system is in england considering it takes me 45 minutes to travel around about 30 miles here.

So i get to Rouen and meet Marion who shows me the sites....

• Pros:Beautiful city, with beautiful people and some very strange places! Not many English which is always a plus for me
• Cons:Parks at night are a no-go, quite far from anywhere but that could be a good thing
• In a nutshell:With 120 basilliques strange towers and the the site that Joan of Arc was burned at the stake, Rouen is a very picturesque and beautiful place to go
