The main chruch of Ponta Delgada was built in the 16th Century on the ruins of an older chapel dedicated to St. Sebastian. The outer structure is characterized by a mixture of Portuguese Gothic and Manueline style. In the interior one can admire the works in carved cedar and other rare woods and the sacristy decorated in "azulejos" (=hand glazed blue tiles).

This church with a simple yet majestic façade was built in the 18th century. The interior consists of three naves covered in painted arches. The altars are decorated with carving of great value. The walls of the chancel are covered in 18th century white and blue glazed tiles. To the right of the curch there is the Chapel of Nossa Senhora das Dores with beautiful windows in Baroque style.

This church, begun in the 17th century, used to be part of the old Jesuit College. It is characterized by a majestic decoration in Baroque stile, with profusion of vegetable and animal motifs.

Built in the 17th and 18th century, from this church you have a beautiful panorama over the port. The interior consist of one nave with painted ceilings and a high altar in gold relief. Here you can see the famous painting "The Pentecosts" by the artist Pedro Alexandrino de Carvalho.
