This being my second trip to Beijing, I didn't bother with the Forbidden City. I did drop by Tiananmen Square, which is very impressive. The square is bordered by both Chinese and Stalinistic architecture. I'll try to download a picture as soon as possible. Anyway, it was a very pleasant place, except for A. People Smoking B. Air Pollution C. Streets that look like New York.
- Pros:Beautiful parks, interesting culture
- Cons:Air pollution
- In a nutshell:Modernized Ancient City

It is really very generous of you to share so many precious info about this complicated and fascinating destination called BEIJING! Did you go cycling there as well???:)
I agree with you on the Peking Duck - but taste is so different - thx for sharing
Thank you so much for visiting my Jasper Park pages. Canada has so many beautiful parks. Beijing is certainly on our wish list. I especially liked your Beihai Park, Tiananmen Square & Forbidden City tips. Well done. Lori.
Beijing was so different than what I expected! Nice page :-)
great page!
Impressive, what an exotical country! Like another planet, isn't it? btw, thanks a lot for droping by Puerto Madryn pages, of course you're invited to visit us! ;-D) Greets from the faraway Patagonia
I loved the park behind the Forbidden City - now I know it's name - thanks. leyle
You're right; the best Peking Duck is not in Beijing. I have not been to Gaithersburg, but that Peking Gourmet restaurant down in Northern Virginia is one of the best I've tried for duck.
You may like reading my food tips from different parts of the world~~I take food very seriously, as well! :)) P.S. Thanks for stopping by my NYC page.
I totally agree about Quan Ju De (Peking Duck)! Next time you go you should visit the Great Wall near Beijing! I will go again in March '06.
