Tiananmen Square

This being my second trip to Beijing, I didn't bother with the Forbidden City. I did drop by Tiananmen Square, which is very impressive. The square is bordered by both Chinese and Stalinistic architecture. I'll try to download a picture as soon as possible. Anyway, it was a very pleasant place, except for A. People Smoking B. Air Pollution C. Streets that look like New York.

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:Beautiful parks, interesting culture
  • Cons:Air pollution
  • In a nutshell:Modernized Ancient City

Thank you so much for visiting my Jasper Park pages. Canada has so many beautiful parks. Beijing is certainly on our wish list. I especially liked your Beihai Park, Tiananmen Square & Forbidden City tips. Well done. Lori.

You're right; the best Peking Duck is not in Beijing. I have not been to Gaithersburg, but that Peking Gourmet restaurant down in Northern Virginia is one of the best I've tried for duck.

I totally agree about Quan Ju De (Peking Duck)! Next time you go you should visit the Great Wall near Beijing! I will go again in March '06.
