Horseshoe Falls
Throughout northern Ontario and the state of Minnesota, various streams empty into Lake Superior, the westernmost of the Great Lakes. From there, water travels further on to Lake Huron, the onwards to Lake Erie. The combined waters from Lakes Superior, Michigan, Erie, and Huron then flow into the wide Niagara River which winds northward past Buffalo and Grand Island. Anyone passing by this broad but calm river would have no idea of the natural phenomena just a few miles downstream. But not along after being split by Goat Island, the Niagara River soon bursts into churning rapids as it races down towards the edge of the Niagara Escarpment. There, in three seperate giant waterfalls, the Niagara River forms the Niagara Falls, one of the greatest waterfalls on earth.
American Falls
Niagara Falls is made of three distinct waterfalls: the largest, Horseshoe Falls, in Canada, the tallest, American Falls, in America, and the smallest, Bridalveil Fall, off to the right of American Falls and seperated by tiny Luna Island.

This is a prime tourist hotspot: on any given day in a year, thousands of tourists will pour through the congested Canadian side. For a little more peace and quiet, get out your passport and head to the American side.

The falls are one of the most spectacular I've ever seen. They aren't particularly tall, but their power is overwhelming, especially from the Maid of the Mist.
