Murphey's Motel: Convenient and Comfortable Murphey's Motel Review

I stayed a single night at Murphey's Motel on my second visit to the Lee Vining/Mono Lake Area. The rooms at Murphey's were clean, large, comfortable, which made this one of my favorite stays during that trip to California. One con: parking is somewhat crowded.

Unique Qualities: Murphey's Motel is located conveniently near the heart of Lee Vining; although the motel lacks a lake view, a 5-minute walk takes you to mediocre view over the lake. It is also very close to the Mono Lake Committee Visitor Center.

Tioga Lodge: Lodge by the Lake Tioga Lodge Review

Tioga Lodge was one of the more satisfying stays during our trip. Although the rooms are rather old, in general they were clean and comfortable, and the staff here are very friendly and helpful. There are a few things other disadvantages; the lodge is 1.5 miles from the town of Lee Vining, so its not quite as convenient as many of the Lee Vining's other lodgings.

Tioga Lodge is a rather historical lodge, with named rooms and cottages; most are very spacious.

Unique Qualities: Tioga Lodge's best quality is it's location, just a 3-minute walk from the lakeshore of Mono Lake. To get to the lakeshore from the lodge, you must cross US-395 and walk down to a small dock. Tioga Lodge also offers boat tours of Mono Lake for a fee. You should also try out Tioga Lodge's restaurant.
