Kenting National Park (墾丁國家公園), established in 1983, was the first national park in Taiwan and still remains the most heavily visited. It’s not hard to see why: visitors are enticed by the area’s sunny climate, beaches, beautiful blue water, and lush, tropical forest. Within the national park lie the two most southerly points of the island of Taiwan; and while some places have beautiful sand beaches, other areas have rocky, rugged coastline. Beneath the surface of the sea is a coral reef; however, the reef’s health is continually deteriorating (I didn’t see the coral reef.)
