This had to be one of the oldest place that I have been to. The castle, the cathedral, the university... all spoke the historical richness of this town. The castle, which housed a museum, was not opened to the public when we arrived. But because there was some on-going preparation work for Christmas, the door was opened and we managed to visit the interior to our delight. The castle provides a great view of the whole town.
What I fondly remembered in Uppsala was the cafe we headed to early in the morning. I can't remember its exact name but I believe it was Cafe Uroxen. We had our breakfast there and I loved the fruit tea and the ambience. There's nothing really special apart from the interesting drawings on the wall. But what really caught my attention was the variety of chocolates that the owner made. I had a chat with him and bought some back to Singapore for a friend. Wish to open a cafe like that too.
It was an eye opener to visit the cathedral. The architecture has lots of elaborated decoration. I felt like I was absorbed into a medieval era as I walked slowly and quietly towards the altar and scrutinizing architectural details everywhere. It can look quite eerie as the interior was dim and there were tombs of kings and queens. Still, I was amazed.

Sounds like you enjoyed your visit in Uppsala! I have never been to cafe Uroxen but it sounds like a nice place. I should go there one day.
