You can't blame a Singaporean who loves to eat. When I first emailed my friends about a trip to the island, I misspelled its name as the Malay cooking style.

Redang is not as hot as Rendang. But its abundance of sunshine, fine, white sand and irresistible crystal-clear water will keep you in sheer savoury. I melted in the water for that few days.

The consequence? I turned charcoal dark.

My friend wrote the song lyrics on Pasir Panjang Beach one morning. The beach isn't really attractive itself apart its sandy bed. (I don't mind rolling myself on the soft sand from one end to another.) Interestingly, we spotted a few watermelon and honeydew skins lying on the shore, served with a strand of green vegetable... Where did they come from? I wondered.

What really attracted me was the change of colours of the water and the sky from morning to night. Shades of blues, green and white paint the day. Miss not the black and orange each early morning that disappear fast.

So look out and up! You'll see God's palette of colours. There's more beneath the water.
