All this beauty so close to home This summer Roberto and I decided to take a road trip through B.C , Alberta and Washington state. I regularly fly to Calgary and Edmonton for business but had never driven through the Rockies. What a spectacular drive! Why did I wait so long! |
| Icefields Parkway near Jasper |
| | We drove through the Cascade mountains in Washington state. Crossed back into Canada near Creston, headed east into Alberta and then north to Jasper via the Icefields Parkway.
The Icefields Parkway portion between Lake Louise and Jasper was the highlight of the trip.
The highway parallels the Continental Divide of the Rocky Mountains. This is a spectacular scenic highway. |
| Just outside of Drumheller, Alberta |
| | From Jasper, east to Edmonton, south via Drumheller and Calgary, than back west to Vancouver.
We did this all at a very leisurely pace, stopping at different towns along the way. We had no problem finding accomodation anywhere even though it was the start of the popular tourist season. |

Wouldl ove to get to Vancouver and Whistlers. | balhannah Wed Feb 4, 2009 21:55 UTC We didn't do the Jasper tramway as it was closed because of bad weather for the 4 days we were there. You photos bring back happy memories of our similar tour. | Sininen Mon Sep 11, 2006 16:41 UTC Hello Anita! Alberta is so beautiful, love the opening picture.
