  • If you could only see one thing in Bangkok this would have to be it. It's like being in a wonderland. The detail on all the structures are fantastic. Truly a beautiful place to see.

  • Wat Arun also known the The Temple of Dawn is one of Bangkoks most famous landmarks. Located on the west side of the Chao Phraya River it is very peaceful as it is rarely crowded. The porcelain detail on the Wat is beautiful.

  • Wat Traimit is a small temple that is famous for the solid gold Buddha that it houses. It was discovered in the 1950's when a stucco covered Buddha was accidently dropped when being moved, revealing the solid gold Buddha which weighs over 5 tons.

  • Most of the temples have rows of bells with wooden sticks with which to ring them. We were told if you ring everyone of them you will have good fortune.

Chao Phraya River: Chao Phraya River and Canals

  • A visit to Bangkok would not be complete without a trip on the river. It gives you a different perspective of the city.

I especially enjoyed the canals off the river,
where people live right on the waters edge.
Very serene and peaceful, nice break from
    the chaotic traffic in Bangkok.

My granparents live in Bangkok during the winter months. I hope to see them there this year. We've got to go to Vertigo, that place looks awesome!

Will probably have a stopover for a couple of days in Bangkok on my next trip to Europe so these have been very valuable tips for me. Thanks Anita!
