USA Vs. Brazil!!! I recently attended the USA Vs. Brazil friendly at Soldier Field in Chicago, IL on Sept. 9, 2007. A little hot but our seats were fantastic. What a game and to see Ronaldinho, Kaka, Robinho and rest of the Brazil squad in person was a once in a lifetime event. The things that the "Samba Boys" can do with a soccer/football is amazing. The game was good and 2-2 until two late goals by Brazil. The USA ended up losing 4-2. |
| | Meeting and partying with some of the best in MLS! On the All Star game trip to Denver, Co. I attended a party hosted by the Colorado Rapids player, All Star and US National Team player Pablo Mastroeni. He was a great guy who was very down to earth. |
I just returned from a 3 week trip to Buenos Aires. This is my second trip there in the past year. I have now spent more than 5 weeks in Argentina. This was one of the best trips for me in my life.
I've made several lifelong friends. Hung out in some of coolest restaurants and bars. Eaten some of the finest food and drank some of the best wine. I sometimes stayed out until 6:00 AM partying. I went to Patagonia and saw condors, caught trout from the cool glacial rivers and walked on the blue ice of the glaciers.
The VT meeting on Feb. 25 was a great success with over 22 VT members and guests attending. They came from Buenos Aires, New York City, Toronto, Vancuover, San Francisco, Minneapolis, London and Holland. It was an equal mix of visitors and locals. You can check out some pictures from the meeting in my "albums" below. Buenos Aires VT Meeting Pics
Other Buenos Aires VT-meeting pics.
Other Buenos Aires VT Meeting Pics El Calafate in Patagonia and especially the glaciers were simply put, marvelous. The glaciers, the mountains and the forests of Patagonia, took my breath away. It is a very special place and rates higher for me than the Grand Canyon or Yellowstone National Park.
The flight from Chicago to Buenos Aires is about 11 hours. Trying to sleep in couch when the flight is full is a bit difficult. The reward is when the plane lands and you step out into the 90 degree F heat of the Southern Hemispheres sun. Sure beats the weather back home of 10 - 20 degrees F.
I attended 3 soccer matches on this trip. I saw River Plate at there stadium. I also attended a Racing game with an Argentine friend and we were in the "hooligans" section, yelling, jumping and swearing. My most favorite soccer match was seeing a game at Boca Stadium. All the games I attended on this trip, the home teams were victorious. I'm a perfect 3-0.

| | My VT-Meetings Pt. 1 On Feb. 17, I met Carolina27. She was my first friend on VT. She is one of the nicest and most charming individuals I've met in my travel. She was the main person who influenced me to travel to El Calafate, Patagonia. Carolina27 |
My VT-Meetings Pt. 2 On Feb. 18 I met up with Sabrina_Florida and went touring around the Palermo neighborhood. She is another very wonderful and charming individual. So far on this trip she has spent a great deal of time and effort showing me the side of Buenos Aires, most tourists don't see. I owe her a great deal of gratitude for all of her kindness. She is truely a very dear friend.
Thank you very much Sabrina!!! Sabrina_Florida | | |
| | My VT-Meetings Pt. 3 On Feb. 25 at the VT meeting at Gran Bar Danzon I finally met Craig(vtnyc) from New York City. We had talked via email and the forums prior to meeting and knew our trips would coincide with one another.
For the next 2 weeks, me, Craig and often times Sabrina met for dinners. We shared Mate together, hung out at Plaza Serrano in Palermo and went clubbing in the provinces of Buenos Aires.
It was a great pleasure meeting you Craig!!! vtnyc |
Travel Tips Make your travel plans during the off-season, off-peak times of the year. Everyone goes to Paris, London and Prague in the summer and the prices reflect that. In Autumn, spring and winter, there are great deals on airfare and hotels and many of the shops and restaurants slash prices in these off peak times. Besides, it's a lot easier to get time off from work in February or March than it is in the summer.
If you can and are brave enough, travel alone. Nothing is as bad as when you have 2, 3 or more different opinions on where to go, what to see and what to do. I also feel when traveling alone you have a much better chance of developing new friendships and really learning the local culture. |
My list top 10 favorite places I've been: 1) Buenos Aires 2) Paris 3) Amsterdam 4) Hawaii 5) Yellowstone National Park 6) Key West, Florida 7) Prague 8) Seattle, Washington 9) Grand Canyon National Park 10) London |
