Long ago Amsterdam was just a small settlement on the Amstel River. Later it developed into a centre of 17th century world trade. Today Amsterdam is a colourful and international city, with unique chararcterics and independently-minded inhabitants.

Great Amsterdam page! I just visited Amsterdam for the first time last month and loved it! :)
Somehow I missed the Tulip Museum when I was in Amsterdam. It’s amazing that there was such financial speculation with tulips in the seventeenth century. In Germany, the Margrave of Karlsruhe-Durlach employed sixty young women, his “Tulip Girls”, to take care of his tulips and paint pictures of the best ones.
Great dual language tips. PJ
