Just a half hour's drive from Savannah, this is a popular beach destination for many Georgians, as well as a nice complement to a visit to Savannah. Many tips for this area are found under the 'off the beaten path' heading for Savannah on VT.
There is a variety of accomodation available, although hardly any of the well known, national chains are represented. The beach is very nice, no sharp drop-off.
The restaurant scene is a little lacking. Historic Tybee Island Lighthouse is a must-see.
