If you have a rental car you'll want to take time to drive around the penninsula and check out the various overlooks. This is pretty much an all-day affair because: 1) the distances involved are are long, and 2) the roads are all gravel (ripio in Argentinean Spanish) and you can only do about 20 mph. and it does get somewhat boring driving in between overlooks!
In my experience Punta Delgada was a not worth the time and effort to get there, as it requires a 15 minute drive off of the main route, highway 2. The spot that was extremely worth it though was Punta Cantor, where you are allowed to walk down the hill and get very close to the sea elephants basking in the Sun on the shore. We were fortunate enough to see several day-old pups with their moms and the huge, cranky alpha-male put on a show of his strength when another younger male tried(unsuccessfully) to get close to one of the big guy's 'harem'.
After Punta Cantor you have to decide if you're done for the day and will take Highway 52 back to Puerto Piramides, or continue North to Punta Norte, which is an extra 50 mile trip but is usually the best place to see orcas in the appropriate season. You can ask at the Visitors Center when you arrive what is going on where during that particular time as they keep up to date with the different ranger's stations.
