by Tourmaline9 - last update: Aug 14, 2006

Persepolis was the ancient capital of the Persian Achaemenid Empire around 650 BC. The Achaemenid Empire is one of the more prestigious elements of Iran’s history. Today the ruins of Persepolis are a major tourist attraction. The Achaemenid rulers of Persia ruled over territories roughly covering all or parts of today's Iran, Iraq, Armenia, Afghanistan, Turkey, Bulgaria, small part of Greece, Egypt, Syria, Northern India/Pakistan, Jordan, Israel/Palestine, Lebanon, Caucasia, Central Asia, Arabia, and Libya.

Hey thanks for the mountain zone link, dude! Cool read. Got a note from a friend who's climbing Peak #6 in Tibet to prepare for his climb up Everest. I think Everest should be my next goal...might help me get over my fear of heights don't cha think?! ;-))
