I remember when I was at college - neighbours of my Mother travveled each Summer to the former Yugoslavia and in particular to Dubrovnik. They tormented me with tales of the beauty of this world, as I was not one of those students who could afford to travel. Of course, times were different then (and I am not all THAT old.....).
It was almsot fitting that my first visit to this country should be as part of a business trip. In other words, my years of study eventually gave me the opportunity to travel the world.
Dubrovnik was even more spectacular than I had imagined.
Standing on the balcony of my room at the Grand Villa Argentina, I sipped a glass of Moet as I overlooked this little part of heaven on earth.

Yes, your neighbors were right - Dubrovnik is spectacular ---- hope I'll see it too! And wow, the Grand Villa Argentina is the place for me!! Look at that pool...Norman :)
Great tips on the old walled city of Dubrovnik, such a gem of a place, need to get back there. Hope you're enjoying being on here so often, getting worthwhile travel info and good connections with other members-Tony
I loved the Argentina. I stayed in the Villa across the street and the rooms were really lovely. That view - to die for! Off season seems to have it's disadvantages though. I loved the outdoor pool area in June.
Dubrovnik is high on my wish list. Thanks for the great page.
the two words i planned on using were wow and amazing, but I see others got there first. The restaurants look amazing altho at US$*) they damn well ought to. And the hotels look superb. Love your pictures of the city. N.
