Fairytale Seaside Town

Dunmore East is a heavenly part of Ireland - a quaint old fishing village in the true meaning of the term; yet with world class seafood restaurants, sailing to die for, and beautifully thatched cottages which in general are now Summer homes for the wealthy.

In spite of its attraction to the rich out-of-towners, Dunmore East has never lost its charm nor its identity. It has managed to remain unspoiled and is full of natural beauty.

Who Can Catch a Fishy?

Dunmore East remains a genuine fishing village, and most of the native population are still fishermen. You can take a walk down to the main pier any day and watch the boats unload their catch. Sometimes, if you're really lucky, a friendly fisherman will throw you a fish fresh from the sea. Even if they don't, there's a fresh fish shop right on the pier where you can buy all you want and know it's been freshly caught.
