Where am I?

Graiguenamanagh (Graigue) is a stunning little village in Co. Kilkenny, on the banks of the River Barrow. The Barrow is one of the Three Sister Rivers (the others being the Suir and the Nore) and all of the inland waterways along the banks of these rivers are dotted with similar villages of great beauty.

To be more precise, Graigue is more or less on the boundary between Wexford and Kilkenny and can be easily reached by a very secnic drive along the winding country roads from either of those places.

Be Prepared for those Barging In

Normally it's considered rude to "barge in" to a place, but in Graigue it's par for the course and the way a large number of visitors arrive. Quite literally, barges line the banks of the Barrow River in this town and make an already picturesque village absolutely amazing.

Some of the barges are permanent residences, others are holiday homes. All are beautifully kept, many of them decorated with plantings of overflowing potted flowers.

From time to time you will see little craft such as those in the phhoto attached. These are used by the barge dwellers to get from place to place along the river.
