Welcome to Tango-land

An Unfortunate Introduction

The Obelisk, Buenos Aires
Regrettably, my first experience with Buenos Aires has been a disappointing one, which is a true pity as I am sure that this amazing city has a great deal to offer. One of my very good friends spent a Summer here in her college years and raved about the City, so I could hardly wait to see what it was all about.

We arrived at BA airport after a day and a half of travelling, but our luggage arrived a day and a half later.

Our hotel room wasn't ready for five hours after our arrival so we waited in reception.

As we waited, some of our fellow travellers reported that they had been mugged in the street and robbed, so we feared stepping outside.

We had just that day and the morning of the next in BA, so our introduction to this City was poor. We spent the second morning in the airport trying to get ignorant and unresponsive airline staff to produce our luggage, which was sitting somewhere in the airport. Eventually, after many tears and pleas, we got it.......but as a result we saw very little of BA.
Inside Michelangelo Tango House

The Better Bits

My most positive memories of BA will be the view of the city from the 23rd floor rooftop deck of the Panamericano Hotel, and the wonderful Tango Show at Michelangelo Tango House.

I had a City Tour boooked, but I had to cancel it as I spent the morning fighting for my bags at the airport. However, as I drove through the streets to the airport I saw great beauty and elegant buildings that I longed to explore at length.

Perhaps another time................

you have to return back some day. BsAs has so much to offer. I still dont understand why you decided to spend 5 hours in the hotel! Even the 5star hotels seem like prisons to me when I travel :)

THOUGH I AM ANGRY WITH YOU BECAUSE YOU JUST SKIPPED RIO DE JANEIRO, I MUST STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU TO GO BACK TO BUENOS AIRES, IT IS ONE OF OUR MOST SPECTACULAR CITY IN SOUTH AMERICA!!! :)

Great picture of the Obelisk! So sorry to hear your visit of Bs As was such disappointment. I found it a marvellous city and did not hear about any muggings. But at least you attended a fantastic tango show for which the city is so well known.
