Shackamack State Park

State Park

We have found that State Parks make a wonderful vacation. If you stay in a cabin, or tent or just visit for a day. The cost is low so they are very family friendly. Some State Parks also have programs for kids for free if you are staying at the park. It is a good time just to kick back and relax. Forget the TV and let nature entertain you.
Stars and Stripes

Proud To Be In America

We are proud to display our country's flag. I feel that no matter where you live in the world you should be proud of where you live.
Coliseum

Allen County War Memorial Coliseum

The Coliseum here in Fort Wayne hold's many events. Fort Wayne Komet Hockey has been around for over 50 years. Other events at the Coliseum are: Fort Wayne Freedom Arena Football, concerts, garden shows, boat shows, flea markets, and many, many more.
Wizards Baseball

Fort Wayne Wizards

The Fort Wayne Wizards are a miner league farm team for the San Diego Padres. Some times after the games they will have fireworks or a concert.
Festival

Three Rivers Festival

The Three Rivers Festival is held in July. There are many events that take place over the 9 days the festival runs. Starting with the opening parade, the giant midway, concerts, arts, and ending the festival is a beautiful fireworks display shot off the top of a building in downtown Fort Wayne
Olympic Torch

2002 Olympics

In 2002 the Olympis Torch came through Fort Wayne. It was a grand sight to see.

World Friendship

World Friendship
January 9, 2005

I have searched far and wide, from ends to ends,
throughout this big wide world and have found many friends.
It does not matter to me what their cultures may be,
what languages they may speak means no difference to me.
Only that I have met them and extended out my hand,
and they in turn accepted it throughout this mighty land.
Though many miles separate some of us and others just a few,
the friendships we have started are so precious and so true.
The world has so much beauty, no matter where you call home,
mountains, valleys, deserts and oceans where ever you do roam.
We may own a speck of earth here and there,
but the world was created for us to share.
So let us reach out together hand in hand,
throughout the vastness of this mighty land.
Circling the world with friendship, the greatest beauty to behold,
never again we will ever travel down a lonesome road.
My Irish Flag

My Heritage

I have been finding out about my heritage and falling in love with a country. Though my feet as of yet has not stepped foot on this magical, mystical place, I feel the pull that the Emerald Isle has on me. I do feel as if I have been there. I would love to hear from anyone who lives in the beautiful country!

Ireland’s Dream
June 16, 2005

My heart is pulled to a land I have never been before,
searching for love, happiness and joy on a distant shore.
Vivid dreams of a magical, mystical place,
where country roads curve and interlace.
Unicorns gallop so wild and free,
kicking up star dust as they glide over Tralee.
Mighty castles built by earth and stone,
where once sat a king on his throne.
The sweet smell of heather fills the air.
Does my true loves hand wait for me there?
Pastel rainbows stretching from Belfast to Killarney,
leuperchans dancing and hiding behind every tree.
Facing out to sea as the salty spray wets my face,
far from home, but yet I’m home at this place.
Rugged cliffs that reach up from rocky shores,
waiting in the mist for someone to explore.
High upon a hilltop, come my true love and I,
many shades of emerald’s capture our eyes.
White cottages dot the country side, with roofs made of thatch,
bright flowers in the window box and a draw sting for a latch.
Sheep and tender lambs on grassy pastures roam,
worn and winding paths lead me wearily back home.
Misty fog settles on the ground, wetting grass with morning dew,
aroma’s swirling through the air of soda bread and Irish Stew.
Mellow is the song of the land, accompanied by tin whistle and harp
Will my love serenade me, after the sky has turned dark.
It is here at this place, my heart is at home
cradled in loving arms, I am not alone.
All this beauty my heart does see,
wake me not from...Ireland’s Dream.
