Nature in the city... If one, like me, appreciates a swim, or a wintery walk on icy lakes, ending up on a picnic or in a nice café, or bar, Stockholm is perfect. The semi wild park-life is one of the best features of Stockholm. Not to speak of the marvellous nature surrounding the city. The scope of the image is from the lake of Ulvsunda, displaying a green path, planned all trough Stockholm in the 1930:ies. One wanted to preserve a string of nature all the way from the very city to this spot. The park of Kristineberg, visible on the photo, ends this green stretch. This park is now being rebuilt, to further enhance the outdoor possibilities of Stockholm. Here you can find old oaks and nature with unique flora and fauna, something that is being considered in the re-make of the park. |
... and its gifts... ... such as these beauties. I love hiking! Imagine a warm but crispy fresh September day. You and a friend. The woods! Around Stockholm there are lots of woods and beautiful nature sceneries. But, they are semi-wild. You will probably meet like ten other people on your way, or more, if you choose the more popular sites ( close to metro or bus, that is). If you go to, for example, my home region Värmland, there are deeper forests, untouched for days by nobody than the fox or moose or bear... Darker, with greener moss, brighter glades. One day maybe I will have the time to create a Värmland page here on VT. But until then, Stockholm has its own semi-wild beauty. The oaks are magnificent, and so old they have seen it all. |
