WELCOME TO PRETORIA, THE CITY OF JACARANDAS WELKOM NA PRETORIA, DIE STAD VAN JAKARANDAS
PRETORIA is unmistakeably a pretty city. It may not have the stunning beauty of Cape Town, but nevertheless pretty. Arguably, though Johannesburg is large, Pretoria may offer more for tourists. Certainly, if the tourist is in Johannesburg anyway, Pretoria is worth a visit. Southern Africa's largest cities are not as gargantuan as the North American largest. Commuting between Johannesburg and Pretoria is equivalent to traversing a major North American city. Many people live in one city and work in another. In fact the two cities are arguably merging into each other.
Pretoria is also known as Jacaranda City due to the abundance of purple Jacaranda trees, as is evident in this picture. |
