I am MARTIN. I live in Vaughan, a Northern Toronto suburb. I love travelling and find any excuse to do so. I am always happy to meet travelers from anywhere in our great planet. (If travelers from other planets exist, I would be equally happy (and curious) to meet them too!!) I specifically love visiting places for the first time. I am delighted to have joint VT. It is an excellent hobby and have met many extremely nice people. Well done VT for bringing us all closer! (I suspect that VT has done more for world peace than all the politicians put together!)

York Regional Police Event

On Saturday 24 March, 2007, York Regional Police launched a huge event known as the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination .
This beautiful occasion was held in Markham, just north of Toronto. The premises of a high school was utilized for the occasion. With abundance of food, guest speakers and entertainment, it was a wonderful time for all. Admission was free and everyone was welcome.
Interesting method of parking a car!

WHY DID I FAIL MY DRIVING TEST?

I thought I would pass my driving test, but instead failed. Check my car here. What do you think? Would you have passed me?
Seriously though, anyone living in Toronto recognize where I snapped this picture. For more details of this strange parking space, visit the Toronto Off The Beaten Path Page section of my Toronto pages to learn more on this unusual structure: the CHUM CITY building. Those wheels just keep on rolling...!
A WONDERFUL TREAT! On the evening of Tuesday 25 July, 2006, Canadian singer Amy Sky gave a free concert in the park in Vaughan (just north of Toronto). Everyone I spoke to found it the most wonderful evening. The weather was just right - could not be better! Her website can be reached by clicking here.
Topless man wearing Santa hat in Toronto
I took this distant picture of a well known city character. He is not without contoversy.
This interesting fun man, who goes without a shirt but wears a Santa hat, is the famous Toronto Zanta. For a nice summary of Zanta; click below:

ROWING

I love this picture of a person casually rowing along Lake Ontario.

yeah right...

My one travel plan is to visit the Sphinx in Egypt again. Unfortunately the authorities wont allow me. According to them, last time I visited, I broke off the tip of its nose. I am happy to return it because that nose is taking up my whole basement.

I was going to include the pencil joke here, but decided that there is no point in it.

I also wish to set the records straight on one issue. Many people are spreading rumors that I often talk to myself. I want you all to know that those claims are nonsense and totally untrue. I NEVER talk to myself EVER. Yes you do. No I don't. Yes I do. No I don't. You do. No I don't...

Some one else claimed that I always repeat myself. That is also not true.

~ NEWS HEADLINES ~

Police recently stopped a lady on the highway. Apparently she was driving by tugging her necklace that was tied to her steering wheel. This is highly illegal. They are charging her with necklace driving.

Two trucks carrying paint recently crashed on the highway. One was carrying red paint and the other brown paint. According to the police report, the drivers were marooned.

According to the weather report, next week will be raining cats and dogs.
In fact it will be so CATastrophic, you may step in a poodle!

Just before Christmas, a chess tournament was held in the city. They rented a hotel hall for the event. Some of the participants were later standing in the hotel lobby, boasting how well they played. The hotel manager stepped in, requesting them to please vacate the lobby and return to the chess hall. The chess players were quite surprised and asked him why. He explained: I hate to see chess nuts boasting in an open foyer.

In a downtown pub, an Australian patron arrived purporting to have swallowed a boomerang. No one believed him, until he was thrown out seven times.
