Travel Bug

At the edge of Northern Ireland in Summer 2004
I have lived all my life in Belfast, Northern Ireland. My travels have taken me to European destinations. These have included Norway, Finland, France, Germany, Netherlands, Greece, Switzerland, Czech Republic and Great Britain.
Without exception each trip I make builds many memories and in some way enriches my life. I love to get away and I love to return to Northern Ireland. This little website is my sharing of some of my recent travel impressions and I hope it is enjoyed by many. My life partner and very best friend, Barbara, will feature broadly as she is an exciting companion with whom to explore the world beyond our small, green island.

Irish Pub on the Hill

Having cycled the twelve miles from Belfast along the Lagan river towpath to Hillsborough, Barbara and I decided to have a beer in the Hillside.
A charming local woman kindly offered to take this photograph and despite her seniority kneeled to create this perspective.
Locals are friendly. Beer is good.
Ballyholme Racing

Belfast Lough

Irish inshore sailing is very popular and variable conditions are always a challenge. This picture was taken at the mouth of Belfast Lough and close to Bangor, the principal town of North Down. The moody sky would indicate an interesting race!
Castlewellan in May 2004

From the Drinns to Castlewellan

In the southeast of Northern Ireland about 30 miles from Belfast the Mourne Mountains sweep down to the sea.
Tollymore Forest Park occupies some of the foothills and is a splendid place for light walking.
From a viewpoint the nearby villiage of Castlewellan is clear in its beautiful setting amongst the green.
