Australia

by tigerjapan - last update: Sep 20, 2005

We went back to Australia in July/August 2004. Although it was winter it was very mild compared to winters in other countries. Sydney was almost warm!

In July/August 2005 we again returned to Australia (you just can't keep us away), this time for 4 weeks. We didn't get to Sydney this time, but visited Melbourne, parts of country Victoria, Adelaide and some parts of country South Australia too.

I have chosen to feature some of Australia's wonderful fauna on this opening page.
Cute
While in Adelaide in 2004 we visited a number of local wildlife parks and had the chance to see the native animals of Australia up close.

In 2005, we were lucky enough to visit The Grampians were the native animals were free and plentiful. Australian wildlife parks like Cleland are wonderful, but there are still fences. The animals at the Grampians roamed free and although it could be hazardous to us drivers it was a wonderful sight.

Also in 2005 we were lucky enough to see a koala in the gum tree across from where we were staying (in the Adelaide Hills) and a Blue-Tongued Lizard basking in a little winter’s sun.
In my Adelaide pages you'll find information on Cleland National park and Warrawong sanctuary.

I have recently also added pages on The Grampians and hope that, with time, I can build them to full represent how wonderful the place is.

Next trip we hope to visit Western Australia, The Northern Territory or Far North Queensland.
Wombats rock!!
