Getting TO/AROUND: Nobody on VT could possibly stress highly enough how wonderfully efficient the Paris metro is. I have been to a number of European cities now and the Paris metro in my opinion is the best. I had no troubles at all, did not get lost or get on the wrong train once. Not once peopel!! This is quite an acheivement for someone who is directionally challenged such as myself. I was in Paris for 3 days and purchased the 'Paris Visite' pass which cost 18 Euro and encompassed all travel on the Metro and RER trains during those days. It was so conveinient not to be slowed down buying individual tickets for each journey. You have the same ticket throughout so there are no hassles at all. I bought mine with no problems from Paris Nord station when I first arrived in this magnificent city. I have also heard the 'Carte Orange' is a good option if you are in the city for more than 3 days and is the preferred option for Parisian locals.
